A time for reflection and celebration

It was a long-awaited goal of ours to bring all of our ECD Network members together in one place for a celebration. After expanding out of our long held home of UGU district into Alfred Nzo and Harry Gwala districts we have not managed to get members together in one place. Until now, and what a day it was, with the Deputy Minister of Basic Education as our special guest. We had full capacity in the hall of 1000 ECD practitioners and could not allow any more to attend! Minibus Taxis and buses arrived from all directions, some travelling 4 hours to get to the venue of UGU sports and leisure complex, near Gamalakhe. We danced, we sang, we ran our AGM formalities and reported back on our annual work and got inspired and encouraged by the Deputy Minister of Basic Education, Dr Reginah Mhaule. Please watch the video of some clips from the Deputy Minister’s speech and read our annual report attached.

If we instill a strong foundation in the children, we want to make sure that when they grow up they are able to grasp things because they were taught from a very early age.

Deputy Minister of Basic Education, Dr Reginah Mhaule

Covid-19 update

We need your help

We are currently working to support ECD centres to comply with the process set out by DSD for reopening but we need your help.  Centres urgently need water tanks, cleaning materials and personal protective equipment (PPE). Partner with us or make a contribution to reach ECD centres that do not have any water source and those who are not funded by government.

Network and Helpdesk

It is possible to improve access and quality of ECD when communities, government and the private sector work together

WHAT WE DO:

·         Facilitate municipal ECD Network meetings to support flow of information between grassroots ECD services, government and stakeholders

·         Provide a help desk to assist ECD centres with registration and compliance to improve child protection and access to government subsidies.
